About the Liu Lab

The Liu laboratory is a cancer pharmacogenomic epidemiologic, translational and clinical laboratory

The Geoffrey Liu laboratory is a multidisciplinary, collaborative translational laboratory that seeks to improve outcomes in cancer. The laboratory has four main programs and a multi-level training program:

AMP-PEL program:

stands for Applied Molecular, Pharmacoepidemiologic, Pharmacogenomic, and Epidemiologic Laboratory, and focuses on identifying and validating cancer biomarkers:

  • Project 1: using mouse (REAL-PDX: Resistance modeling in EGFR and ALK Lung cancer Patient-Derived Xenografts for personalized post-progression therapy) models

  • Project 2: organoid cell culture (NERO: Non-small cell lung cancer with EGFR and Rearranged molecular alterations for Organoid models) models

  • Project 3: human population studies (COS-ILCCO: Clinical Outcomes Studies of the International Lung Cancer Consortium Studies of Clinical Outcomes) and understanding

  • Project 4: developing improved patient phenotyping of symptoms and toxicities: (2BLAST: Biostatistical and Bioinformatic Longitudinal Assessment of Symptoms and Toxicities)

CALIBRE program:

stands for Clinical And LIquid biopsy, Breathomics, and Radiomics for Early detection of Cancer

  • Project 1: Clinical and Implementation Studies in Lung Cancer Screening

  •  Project 2: Radiomics in Lung Cancer Screening

  • Project 3: Liquid Biopsies in Lung Cancer in Early Detection

  •  Project 4: Breathomics in Lung Cancer Early Detection

  • Project 5: CALIBRE Integrative Analysis for Lung Cancer Screening

ON-PROST program:

stands for ONtario Patient Reported Outcomes of Symptoms and Toxicity

  • Project 1: CARMA BROS is the CAnadian Rare Molecular Alterations Basket Real-world Observational Study

  • Project 2: CLINTA stands for CLInic-based New Technology Applications

  • Project 3: CHUQoLS (pronounced Chuckles) stands for Cancer Health Utilities and Quality of Life Studies

HANG-OUT program:

stands for Head And Neck cancer network for Genetics, Observational oUtcomes, and Toxicities: A combined AMP-PEL and ON-PROST initiative

Genetics of Smoking Outcomes and Knowledge Effects

Genetics of Long and Short-term Toxicities

COMBIEL Training Program: Cancer Outcomes, Medicine, Biostatistics, Informatics, EpidemiologyLaboratory Training Program (see www.uhncombiel.com for details)
